How Valsartan works Valsartan is an angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB). It relaxes blood vessels by blocking the action of a chemical that typically constricts them. This action lowers blood pressure, allowing blood to flow more smoothly to various organs and enabling the heart to pump more efficiently.

Side Effects

Common side effects of Valsartan include headache, dizziness, diarrhea, back pain, increased potassium levels in the blood, abdominal pain, hypotension (low blood pressure), fatigue, and joint pain.

  • It may cause dizziness during the first few days of use.
  • Rise slowly if you have been sitting or lying down for an extended period.
  • Your doctor may conduct regular tests to monitor the levels of urea, creatinine, and potassium in your blood.
