How Norfloxacin and Lactobacillus work Norfloxacin and Lactobacillus is a combination of two medicines. Norfloxacin is an antibiotic that works by inhibiting the action of a bacterial enzyme called DNA-gyrase. This prevents bacterial cells from dividing and repairing, ultimately leading to their death. Lactobacillus is a probiotic that helps restore the balance of beneficial bacteria in the intestine, which may be disrupted after antibiotic use or due to intestinal infections. This is how it works to treat bacterial infections.

Side Effects

Common side effects of Norfloxacin and Lactobacillus include nausea, dizziness, headache, increased white blood cell count (eosinophils), abdominal cramps, elevated aspartate aminotransferase, elevated alanine aminotransferase, decreased white blood cell count (lymphocytes), low blood platelet count, protein in urine, and increased alkaline phosphatase levels in the blood.

Expert Advice

Norfloxacin + Lactobacillus must be taken on an empty stomach at the same time every day.
Do not skip any doses and complete the full course of treatment, even if you feel better.
Stopping the medication early may cause the infection to return and become harder to treat.
It is advisable to drink plenty of fluids and maintain a healthy diet while taking the medicine.
The medication may cause dizziness; do not drive or engage in activities that require mental focus until you know how it affects you.
Avoid consuming alcohol while taking the medication, as it may increase side effects.
