How it Works

How Ramipril and Atorvastatin Work Ramipril and atorvastatin are medications used to treat high blood pressure associated with high cholesterol levels. Ramipril is an ACE inhibitor that reduces stress on the heart and relaxes blood vessels, allowing blood to flow more smoothly and enabling the heart to pump blood more efficiently. Atorvastatin is a cholesterol-lowering medication that works by blocking an enzyme (HMG-CoA reductase) necessary for cholesterol production. This action lowers "bad" cholesterol (LDL) and triglycerides while raising "good" cholesterol (HDL).

Side Effects

Common side effects of Ramipril and Atorvastatin include nausea, changes in taste, indigestion, stomach pain, headache, dizziness, weakness, cough, muscle pain, increased potassium levels in the blood, increased glucose levels in the blood, decreased blood pressure, and increased liver enzymes.
