Cetirizine is an antiallergic that reduces cough associated with allergies by blocking the effects of a chemical messenger, histamine. Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide is a cough suppressant that relieves cough by reducing the activity of the cough center in the brain. Menthol produces a sensation of coolness and alleviates minor throat irritation. Ammonium Chloride is an expectorant that helps remove mucus from the airways. Zinc Gluconate releases zinc ions into the throat, which prevent the cold virus from reproducing, allowing the virus to die off faster and the cold to resolve sooner.
